Erika Rothenberg
Erika Rothenberg is a conceptual artist whose provocative and humorous work about social and political issues takes many forms, from paintings and photographs to museum installations and large-scale outdoor works. Rothenberg’s work has been widely exhibited at galleries and museums including MoMA New York, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles, MCA Chicago, and Documenta IX in Kassel, Germany. She has taught at CalArts, UCLA, and Otis, and received grants from the Getty and Norton Foundations.
Her work is in many private and public collections, including MOMA, LACMA, MOCA Los Angeles, the Art Institute of Chicago, and MCA Chicago. Rothenberg has completed several large-scale public art projects, including The Road to Hollywood in LA, and Freedom of Expression National Monument in NYC. She reinstalled her 1992 Museum of Modern Art exhibition House of Cards at Zolla Lieberman Gallery, Chicago in 2015 and at Charlie James Gallery, Los Angeles in 2016.
