They’re There
They’re There
Curated by Dane Johnson
September 6 - October 25, 2014
Charlie James Gallery is pleased to present They’re There, a group show curated by Los Angeles-based artist Dane Johnson. Art history, regular history and day-to-day happenings are examined by California Artists: Rafael DeLaCruz, Christopher Lux, Ruby Neri, Willy Reed, Henry Taylor, Jessica Williams and Aaron Wrinkle. In a presentation of 7 paintings, figure and background are handled with equal gravity. This democratization of space and the protagonists that exist within it create an exciting, magical and convoluted world where space is flat, rooms can be emotional, people can serve as props and clarity is temporal. They’re There presents a collection of works that meander in and out of reality while presenting an honest and earnest exploration of our surroundings.
