PRESS RELEASE (PDF)

Charlie James Gallery is pleased to announce LA’s first solo show of the work of Bay Area performance artist Lucas Murgida. In (w)hole Lucas will be continuing his examination of how to predict the future through a dismantling of our five senses. In San Francisco, Portland, and New York Lucas has already challenged a viewer’s sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. In each of these pieces Lucas assumed what appeared to be very passive role in attempt to disarm viewers as they freely chose to be herded into alarming and challenging situations. (w)hole will examine our sense of taste and is sure to be a mouth-watering experience. Lucas will perform throughout the evening of July 25, from 6-9pm at the gallery. The installation will be participatory and available thru normal gallery hours for viewer experience from the 25th of July thru the 22nd of August. Lucas Murgida received his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and works as a locksmith in San Francisco, CA. This is Lucas’s first solo show in Los Angeles.
