Lucia Hierro's "Circulares (Circulars)" Acquired by The Bronx Museum of the Arts
Congratulations to Lucia Hierro on the acquisition of her piece, Circulares (Circulars), by The Bronx Museum. Lucia has deep roots at The Bronx Museum and this acquisition holds special significance for her. She was an educator early on at the museum, and in 2014 she was the recipient of an AIM Fellowship, the Museum’s flagship artist professional development program, offering career management resources to emerging artists navigating the art world. Her ties to the Museum, through both education and the AIM Fellowship contributed to Lucia’s decision to locate and maintain her studio in the Bronx.
The Circulares piece was made in collaboration with Lucia's mother, Lucia Guzman Garcia and was first exhibited in Lucia's solo exhibition titled Mercado, curated by Larry Ossei-Mensah at Elizabeth Dee in NY, NY in January of 2018. The piece was later exhibited in Lucia’s solo show Marginal Costs, curated by Amy Smith-Stewart at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT in 2021-2022.
