Rigoberto Torres's “Julio, José, and Junito” acquired by the Whitney Museum of American Art

Charlie James Gallery is proud to announce that Rigoberto Torres’s Julio, José, and Junito has been acquired by the Whitney Museum of American Art. Special thanks to Marcela Guerrero, Mary Creed and Scott Rothkopf and the entire Whitney Museum team for their wonderful support of Rigoberto’s work.

Julio, José and Junito is on view at the Whitney in the Shifting Landscapes exhibition through January of 2026, along with works by John Ahearn and Patrick Martinez.

Works by Rigoberto Torres are also currently on view in Ordinary People at MoCA LA, American Vignettes at the Rubell Museum in Washington DC, and The Shape of Power at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington DC.

Rigoberto Torres (b. 1960, Aquadilla, Puerto Rico; lives and works in Orlando, Florida) and has produced life-cast sculpted portraits and scenes of the South Bronx community for nearly four decades individually and collaboratively with Bronx-based artist John Ahearn.
