The Armory Show 2022
Charlie James Gallery is delighted to present a solo presentation of new work by NY-based artist Lucia Hierro in the Solo section of The Armory Show 2022. Lucia will present an installation of works united by an ambitious paint and vinyl wall mural of a Washington Heights neighborhood scene. Integrated within the mural will be four new Mercado Bag pieces, each a portrait of a different state of being or in some cases portraits of specific roles. Lucia has made two new 3 x 3’ Bodegones pieces (still life works) for the booth. The show’s centerpiece is a large scale Cafe Bustelo bag sculpture bound with a rubber band as if plucked from a domestic pantry. Taken together the presentation offers a portrait of the artist in 2022, grappling with her feelings upon moving back to her Washington Heights neighborhood after years away.
Lucia Hierro’s 2017 Mercado Bag sculpture De Todo un Poco was recently acquired by the Guggenheim Museum of NY, NY.
On December 8th, Lucia Hierro will have her first solo European exhibition at Fabienne Levy Gallery in Lausanne, Switzerland.
